Morgan Bogard Sets Meet Record In Hammer Throw At Mt. SAC Relays

Morgan Bogard followed up her meet record in the hammer throw with this winning toss in the discus.

The Mesa College women's track & field had only two competitors at the Mt. SAC Relays, yet took home four medals with a strong showing. Morgan Bogard led the way at the April 7 meet, setting a meet record in the hammer throw with a 181'5" mark that handily broke the old record. Not done yet, she came back with another winning performance in the discus, this time winning with a personal best distance of 151'5". The other Mesa female athlete was Sable Otey who also had two strong performances on the day. Sable gathered her two medals with a third place finish in the 100 meters (12.60) and a second place in the 200 meters (25.59). The Mesa College track & field will travel to Cal State Dominguez Hills for a meet this Friday, April 13.

Janelle Milner was part of a strong showing by Mesa in the women's 200 meter race at the Pt. Loma College Invitational.

Morgan Bogard continued her winning ways at the Pt. Loma College Invitational held on Saturday, March 24. The state leader captured the hammer throw with a mark of 179' 9". Later she came back to place 3rd with a throw of 138' 0" in the discus throw. Sable Otey also placed twice at the meet, finishing second in both the 100 meters (12.49) and the 200 meters (25.35). Mesa also had Janelle Milner place in the 200 meters as her 25.67 time garnered her 4th place. The women's team will have a week off before competing in the Mt. SAC Invitational on Saturday, April 7.

Bogard and Otey lead Mesa College with multiple wins at Foothill Conference Quad Meet

Sable Otey takes an early lead on the way to her victory in the 100 meter hurdles.

Morgan Bogard and Sable Otey both won more than once as the Mesa Women's Track & Field team competed in a Foothill Conference quad meet in Lancaster. The highlight was unmistakably an outstanding winning mark of 182' 4" by Morgan Bogard in the hammer throw. Her mark leads the Foothill Conference and is the leading mark in the state. In addition, Bogard won the Discus (138' 8") and the shot put (39' 10"). Versatile sprint and hurdle specialist Sable Otey won twice in the meet, taking the 100 meters in 12.83 seconds and the 100 meter hurdles in 15.03 seconds. The other winner for the Mesa Women was Jacqueline Dickson in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:43.95. The meet was held at Antelope Valley College on a cool, sunny day with light winds. Cuyamaca College and Victor Valley College also competed. This week the Mesa Track & Field team will travel to the Ben Brown Invitational at Cal State Fullerton.
